Our Values

COMMUNITY

We strive to create a safe, collaborative space for positive growth, embracing diverse experiences, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. We contribute to our local community through social service, economic growth, and fresh food.

SUSTAINABILITY

We teach youth life skills and provide long-term support to foster stable growth toward independence. We rely on the combined efforts of youth and adults to develop a sustainable social enterprise business, ensuring that our community will grow strong and vibrant for generations to come.

CARING

We encourage youth to actively explore their values and goals, and to pursue them with enthusiasm, caring, and commitment. We recognize our responsibility to care for ourselves and for others.

BALANCE

We prioritize balance between different aspects of life, including: Innovation and Tradition, Work and Play, Purpose and Profit

Our Mission

Alaska Seeds of Change employs and empowers local youth, promoting self-reliance and community involvement, to grow and sell fresh produce.

Do You Have Any Questions?

We love to educate people about our program. Please see the frequently asked questions below, or contact us if you have more!

WHAT IS SEEDS OF CHANGE?

Alaska Seeds of Change is a vertical hydroponics greenhouse located in the midtown area. Through our greenhouse we provide supported employment, comprehensive educational and vocational services, and community-based behavioral health services to up to 20 transition-age (16-24 years old) young adults. Youth participate in all major aspects of running our urban agriculture business, with the opportunity to take on increasing job responsibilities and leadership roles.

HOW DO I REFER A YOUTH TO YOUR PROGRAM?

Youth interested in the program can apply for a job as a greenhouse worker. That’s it! If you are a provider referring a youth you may contact us to discuss details, but we do not use any other application or referral packet.

HOW CAN I WORK FOR AK SEEDS OF CHANGE?

Are you between the ages of 16 and 24, and interested in learning some skills to boost yourself to success? Our Greenhouse Grower position might be right for you. While we are not currently hiring any support staff positions, if you want to volunteer your time you can submit a letter of interest on our Get Involved page.

CAN I VISIT YOUR FARM?

Fresh, local, year-round produce is an exciting thing. Due to the high level of interest, we’re only able to offer a very limited number of tours at this time. Please contact us if you are interested in visiting our space.

WHAT DO YOU GROW?

Alaska Seeds of Change grows leafy greens and herbs year round to help feed our local Anchorage community. Please see our Food page for a full list of what we grow.

WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR PRODUCE?

You can buy directly from us at the Spenard Farmers Market every Saturday (9am-2pm at the corner of 26th Ave & Spenard Rd), at the APU Farmer’s Market every Wednesday (11am-6pm at Alaska Pacific University), and online from the Kenai Food Hub (order Sat-Tues, pick up your veggies Thurs!). Our herbs and greens are also featured in meals at Spenard Roadhouse, Pangea Restaurant and Lounge, Originale, and Marco T’s Pizzeria, as well as in select products from Arctic Harvest Deliveries, Evie’s Brinery, Alaska Food Network, and at J&J Food Market

HOW CAN I HELP?
